Scale | Scale equipment or scales are used weigh products as part of the production process. Product is incrementally fed into product holding buckets, called product buckets, until the proper weight is reached. In a linear scale system, the one bucket that has reached the desired weight is discharged. In a combination scale system, the proper combination of buckets (one or multiple) are discharged to reach the proper weight. Scale systems often discharge into directly into packaging machinery such as vertical or horizontal form, fill, and seal machines. Important factors to consider when selection the proper scale system include the volume of the product to be weighed, the weight of the product to be weighed, the speed at which the scale must operate (number of weighs per minute), the packaging machine that the scale will be integrated to, and plant environment into which the scale will be installed. |
